Our History

We are delighted to introduce you to Mannamead care. As a family based business, we are proud to have been involved in the care of the Elderly in Plymouth since the 1970’s. Today, we can also be proud of being the largest sole provider of Residential, Nursing and Independent living in Plymouth.

We are not owned by a National or Multi National conglomerate, we are not a faceless entity, but instead, we are a family based, Care lead group, passionate about the care we deliver, underpinned by a respect for all that use our services and for the dignity of those we care for.

We have 4 beautiful homes, all in Mannamead, Plymouth. Three of these are Stunning, Victorian properties with high ceilings, mouldings and architecture, whilst the forth is a purpose built Home set in over 2 acres of stunning parkland. Our homes are centrally based, and easily accessible by public transport, and with private parking on site.

Mannamead care is best placed to offer the widest range of care, with a total of 186 beds, we can offer residential care to 119 individuals, in high quality, single en-suit rooms, as well as 36 Nursing beds, specialising in “End of Life” care. Finally, we have 32 individual flats for independent living for those looking for close support, but with the benefit of having their own front door.

Whatever you care needs, Mannamead Care would be delighted to discuss these with you. One port of contact can give you total access to all that we offer so we can assess the Care needs of the person needing care, before making a recommendation for where best those care needs can be met.

We are lead by a great senior team, with years of experience between them, and this is underpinned by a passionate, well lead and dedicated care team. We pride ourselves on the professionalism of our care team, and in particular how they look to meet “Person centred” care needs.

Our homes are full of love, laughter and bound together by a sense of community and purpose.

We recognise that considering care for a loved one is quite often a very stressful time for everyone, even if its for a short period of respite, or for a longer placement.  To make this as stress free as possible, our commitment is that we will work with you, with compassion and patience to help you make the right decisions for your loved ones.

With kind regards,

Tonya and Phillip Gerry

Dementia Quality Mark

The Dementia Quality Mark model was established to:

  • Improve person centred care across our homes

  • Improve the quality of service for people with dementia

  • To reassure people choosing a care home that we meet the needs of people with dementia

The aim of the Dementia Quality Mark is to ensure that every home has suitable building blocks in place to provide a good quality dementia service. Each home must also show willingness to make improvements to the service through their annual improvement plan.

The success of the Dementia Quality Mark has been vital in helping to improve the quality of service provision for those residents in our care homes living with dementia.

Having achieved The Dementia Quality Mark year after year, our aim is to reassure people choosing a care home that we meet the needs of people with dementia; for example, a DQM would be particularly helpful for families wanting to select a care home, and homes which have been awarded the DQM are shown on the Plymouth Online Directory. The home is also issued with a certificate which they can display in the home to show they are in receipt of the Award.

Our Concept

We will ensure that anyone who comes to live with us will be at the heart of everything we do. We strive to enhance people’s quality of life, by providing an excellent standard of support, which embraces our person-centred care framework

We are committed to valuing each and every individual that lives in our care homes and welcome residents from all walks of life with many different needs, who enjoy the opportunity to share and celebrate the richness and diversity of their experiences.

We promise that everyone who comes to live in our homes will be treated with respect and dignity according to their individual wishes and needs, and we make every effort to provide each person with the care and support they need in line with their assessed needs and feelings.
